DR DAVID JENKIN, SURFAID

This amazing surfer doctor and his surfing mates started SurfAid with the aim to wipe out preventable death in the Mentawai Islands. 95% of SurfAid program staff are Indonesian nationals and its Malaria Control Project continues to reduce malaria-related death. I love this photo. For 3 years I have been the on-field interviewer for the fabulous Yellow Socks Challenge between Brisbane Bronco greats and Australian Softball greats. Gorden lost his softball playing sister to cancer and the Yellow Socks Challenge raises money to tackle cancer (excuse the rugby league pun) through Play 4 a Cure, which was started by the fabulous Leigh Martyn.
